There are places in the world that attract artists with their unique charm. In Europe it’s Venice, in China it’s Suzhou and Hangzhou, which are towns near Shanghai. Much like in Venice, there are water canals instead of streets.
One time, while living in China, I went to Suzhou to paint from nature. It was cold and rainy weather, maybe some time in late autumn. In the evening, I had to eat hot spicy soup in a small Muslim restaurant so that I wouldn't get sick. But I could see and feel this city of unique beauty with my own eyes, paint reflections in the water. I couldn’t paint the smells, sounds, and roar. I’m happy to add to the picture a description, which often follows each of my pictures like a veil to a bride’s dress.
